Hello

I’m Sam, a primary teacher with 15 years’ experience, currently teaching part-time. With a background as an English Lead, Year 6 teacher, and KS2 writing moderator, I have extensive knowledge of the primary curriculum and what children need to achieve.

I love supporting children outside the classroom to build confidence, enjoy learning and reach their full potential.

My Story

I've worked across all primary year groups throughout my teaching career, with extensive experience as a Year 6 teacher, English Lead and phonics tutor. I have also worked as a KS2 Writing Moderator, giving me an in-depth understanding of the National Curriculum, assessment and the expectations children need to meet in reading, writing and maths. Whether supporting children with early phonics or preparing them for SATs, I understand the progression of learning from Reception through to the end of Key Stage 2.

Alongside my classroom experience, I previously held the role of SENDCo and achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO). This has given me valuable experience in supporting children with a wide range of additional learning needs and adapting teaching to ensure every child can succeed.

I also hold a degree in Psychology, which has shaped my understanding of how children learn, develop and build confidence. My approach to tutoring is calm, supportive and personalised, with every session carefully planned around each child's strengths, interests and next steps. I believe that when children feel confident and understood, they are far more likely to enjoy learning and reach their full potential.

What I love most about tutoring is having the opportunity to work closely with children, celebrating their successes, building their confidence and helping them discover that they are capable of achieving more than they ever thought possible.

As a mum to two young boys, I understand the importance of nurturing a love of learning from an early age. I am passionate about inspiring confidence, curiosity and independence, and my aim is for every child who attends Wise Ed Learning to leave each session feeling proud of what they have achieved and excited to keep learning.
